Texas Holdem Poker Rules

Texas Holdem is one of the easiest poker games to learn how to play and most new poker players actually start out playing Texas Holdem. Once you learn how to play Texas Holdem then you’ll be able to learn all the other variations of poker a lot easier so I would recommend playing Texas Holdem first. Whether you choose too play Texas Holdem poker for play money or real money when you’re learning is up to you and I’ll let you make that decision for yourself.

When you’re playing at a cash table there is only one dealer and the dealer button is passed around clockwise on the table. There are fifty-two cards used which is a full deck of cards as well. There are two minimum bets that need to be made before every hand which are known as the small blind and the big blind. The two players that are left of the dealer button will need to place the blinds, with the player closet to the button small blind and the other player big blind.

Once the blinds have been posted all the players are dealt there cards and the action begins with the player left of the big blind. Everyone has the chance to call, raise or fold their cards until it gets back around to the big blind. Once everyone has either called or folded their cards the dealer will place the first three community cards known as the flop. Every player is aloud to use these community cards in their hands to make the best possible hand.

After the flop is laid down everyone has a chance to either check, bet or fold their cards starting with the player left of the dealer button. Once everyone has called or folded their cards the dealer will lay down another community card called the turn card. There is another round of betting and then the dealer lays down the final community card known as the river.

There is now a final round of betting to be done and once everyone has either called the bet or folded the hands are turned over. Each player left in the pot will need to turn over their cards to see who has the best hand. You can use all five community cards and your two whole cards to make the best possible five card poker hand. This means you’ll need to leave two cards out of your hand and you have the choice of which ones those are.

The player with the best hand will win the pot and then the dealer button will move one spot to the left and the next hand will begin. The blinds will need to be posted now by the next two players to the left of the dealer button and you’ll go through another hand of betting.
